About Column Pipes

Column Pipes are threaded uPVC riser pipes that carry a submersible pump and deliver water up the borewell. Supplied in 25 mm to 100 mm (1″ to 4″) diameters across several load classes, they are designed around the combined weight of the pump, the water column and the pipe itself, with a working safety factor built in. The square thread profile spreads load across a wide bearing face and absorbs the shock and jerk of pump starts, where a conventional V-thread would concentrate stress and strip. Couplers are locked to the pipe by wire lock or bonded joint so the string cannot unscrew under torque reaction. Unlike GI risers, the pipe does not rust, scale or seize in the bore, so it comes out cleanly at service time and the bore stays free of corrosion debris that damages pump impellers. Light enough to be lowered and retrieved without heavy lifting gear, it cuts installation time and lets a pump be serviced with a smaller crew.
